i have a (bad) explanation and semi-workaround
technically the side panels on mobile are different pages entirely and all the close button does is go back. so the timeline can't receive the new post while the panel is open and then when you close it it goes back to the timeline from before you opened it. for now if you click Home instead of close it will freshly load the timeline and show it (although that's a bit slower)
